XROXX has sat down and listened to many indie punk, ska and emo bands about what they need. One thing that these bands said was a central place to sell their merchandise online that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. They also said they didn't want to have to deal with handling the shipping and handling and the whole business end. We then asked them, "Well haven't you heard of CD Baby?" Most of the bands responded that they had, and some even used their services. There were a couple of problems with CD Baby though. We heard the following complaints:

• CD Baby charges a set-up fee of $35 for each album you want to sell.
• CD Baby charges a mark-up of $4 per CD. Some bands would like to sell their CD on CD Baby for $4 or $5, meaning they either make $0 per CD or $1. When you include what it costs to produce that CD they are losing money, not to mention the $35 set-up fee.
• CD Baby only sells CD's, no other merchandise.
• CD Baby's site is kind of lame.

After listening to these complaints and asking for suggestions, we devised the following plan:

• We will not charge a set-up. We're all about helping the bands and want to do that as much as possible without losing our asses of course.
• We will mark your CD up whatever you do. For example, you have a CD and want to get $2 for every CD sold. We then mark it up $2 so your CD will sell for $4 plus shipping and handling on XROXX! You've made $2. YOu don't need to sell 18 copies of the CD to break even on just the cost of putting your CD on our site! The maximum we'll mark a CD up is $5 while the minimum is $2. With the fees we get charged for each transaction and for our time put in on the business end, we feel we need to ask $2 for every CD.
• We will sell whatever else you have based on the same system. You have t-shirts that you want to get $4 from? We'll sell them for $8 on XROXX. We have no limits.
• Well, we hope you don't think our site is lame. If you do, please e-mail the webmaster and tell him what you think is lame about the site!
