Warped Tour 2004
UMB Bank Pavilion
Warped Tour 2004
St. Louis, Missouri
July 21, 2004

Warped Tour has been rocking cities all over the United States for ten years now, and it never gets tiring.  That's why I was so excited for this years tour; it was going to be awesome, and I knew it!  I left my house (which is about an hour and a half away from the venue) at about 8:00 a.m.  I arrived at the venue at about 9:45 and waited in line until the doors opened at 11:00 a.m.

New Found Glory at Warped Tour 2004The day was already hot and everyone was looking for the littlest ways to keep cool.  When the doors finally opened, my friend and I knew exactly which bands we wanted to see.  A few of the bands we were out to see were New Found Glory, Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, Story Of The Year, and Sugarcult.  Our first band of the day was Billy Talent, who didn't go on until 12:30, so we walked around and looked at merch, which was fun if I may say so myself, and then headed over to Billy Talent at 12:20.

Billy Talent went on stage at exactly the right time, we knew that their live show was going to be awesome, but didn't expect it to be this awesome.  They had so much Warped Tour Picenergy, and they know how to get a crowd hyped up.  There was moshing everywhere, crowd surfing, and the occasional hit in the face here and there, but everyone was out to have a good time, and that's exactly what everyone did.  Their performance of ''Try Honesty'' was probably the most awesome thing I have ever seen, I had so much energy, and it takes quite a lot for a band to get me going, but they sure did it and did it well!  They played for about 20 minutes and then it was time to go find some shade, so we headed on over to the humongous pavilion and chilled out there for awhile until it was time to see New Found Glory at 1:45.

The day was quite long since the bands were spaced out time-wise, it gave us a lot of time to wonder around.  On the way to the pavilion, we passed a booth where Letter Warped Tour Teal StageKills was doing a small signing...well, we made it just in time, we were the last people to go through which gave us a few minutes to talk with them and they are very humble, very awesome guys!  After talking to Letter Kills, we looked at the scheduled signing board and saw that Yellowcard would be doing a signing at 2:45, and we couldn't miss out on that.  By this time we had just enough time to head over to the pavilion to cool off, so that's where we went.  When we got to the pavilion it was 12:25, so we sat around until about 12:40 since the stage that NFG was playing at was right next to the pavilion.

We headed straight to the Teal Stage to see NFG right at 1:40, so we had five minutes to get to the crowd and find a good spot, which we did, and awaited one of the coolest shows ever.  I had seen New Found Glory last year, and they did a spectacular performance, but this one topped that, and it was hard, but they somehow did it.  They did some of my favorite songs like, ''Head On Collision,''  ''My Friends Over You",  ''Understatement,'' and the now popular, ''All Downhill From Here.''  There was so much moshing and insane kids everywhere, it really got you in the set mood of the day.  I didn't want NFG to stop this amazing show, but knewWarped Tour in St. Louis they had to and also had it in my mind that Story Of The Year was next up, and I was ready to go for this!

Story Of The Year was back in their hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, so everyone knew that they would be rocking the house!  Story Of The Year is absolutely the best band of the day next to Yellowcard.  I did not get to stay for all of Story Of The Year, but got to stay long enough to know that it was the best thing to happen to me so far that day...SOTY has the best stage presence and loves their hometown so much, it was truly and honestly an awesome experience.  They had the crowd going with ''Until The Day I Die'' and ''Anthem Of Our Dying Day,'' I urge everyone to make it a priority to see this band!  Time was running out and we had to rush to get in line for the Yellowcard signing.

Warped Tour PicSince we got in line for the YC signing so early, our wait was practically five minutes, no complaints at all, we went through the line and since it was so long they couldn't talk for long, they tried their hardest, but as we all know, security guards are butts...but they are such nice guys and they would do anything for their fans, it is apparent, and they should be loved by all, I know I love them.

After leaving the Yellowcard signing we headed straight on to Sugarcult.  My friend and I have had the opportunity to hang out with Marko 72 of Sugarcult on many ocassions, and he is one of my dear friends, so that was an awesome experience to see them again, I even got the chance to visit with my friend after the show.  Sugarcult has always been one of my favorite bands and they are always and will continue to be a blow-out amazing live band, they have the power to calm the crowd or to get the crowd going, at the snap of a finger.  It's easy to tell that Sugarcult has a large fan following and it will continue to grow over the years.  The crowd at Sugarcult was HUGE!  I really never have anything to say about Sugarcult's live performances because they are literally unexplainable, they are absolutely amazing!  It was in the heat of the day, but everyone was going, and going, and wouldn't stop until it was time, and when the time came, they still didn't quit.  Right after Sugarcult ended I headed back to see Marko and Tim and talked to them for awhile and we said our goodbyes and see you at the next show's and I headed to the Yellowcard show, and it was soooo hot, but I was ready to go, Yellowcard is of course my favorite band!

Although there was not much moshing at the Yellowcard performance, the crowd was upbeat and jumping and singingWarped Tour Crowd right along with the songs.  The setlist was; "Only One," "Breathing," "October Nights," "Way Away," and "Ocean Avenue."  Yellowcard fans are so close, there is a huge, awesome feeling that i'm sure everyone feels, and you feel the bands presence and it's really an incredible experience.  From the awesome guitar riffs, to Sean's backflips, this is one show that you must see!

We missed five minutes at the beginning of TBS, because we were so drawn to the YC performance, we couldn't leave.  When we go to the TBS show, the crowd was growing by the seconds and the energy was building by every new person entering the crowd.  When TBS came out, the crowd's response was so ear shattering, I swore I wouldn't be able to hear for weeks, and I coudn't!  Aside from Adam Lazarra choking himself with the mic cord, which was absolutely edgy, the show was freaking awesome, makes me glad that I got to know TBS's music!  The best part was right in the middle of the show, when Adam split the crowd into two sides and re-enacted the Braveheart scene!  He picked one guy to play Mel Gibson and the two sides charged at each other, and started moshing on contact, it was so cool, definitely up there on the best shows list.

After TBS we were pooped because of the heat and our energy was gone - we had seen the bands, bought the best merch, and were ready for some shut eye.  We left the venue at around 7:00 p.m. just in time for some Taco Bell on the way home.  Warped Tour this year was probably the best thing yet...and I can't wait until next year because it only gets better year after year!
