The Casualties/Lower Class Brats/Antidote/Frontline Attack

The Meow Meow
Portland, OR
October 1, 2004
Excitement grew as the crowd awaits the Casualties to take the stage on this first day in October at the Meow Meow
for the Punx Unite Tour. A feeling of craze had built up from the past evenings line-up, as well as an all over feeling of unity among punks.
The fire alarm was pulled in the middle of the concert and went off for well over one set. The siren was a pain the ass, especially when all people wanted was the live band! But even with this, it didn’t matter once the band got on stage. Every one had a good spirit about it. Plus during the sets, the music blasted the siren away. Another down side to the concert was that the acoustics at this venue weren't really good. Often times the voice would be kind of hard to understand. Even
with this though, it didn’t impact the performance of the bands, which were splendid.
The first two bands were kind of a blur, as I didn’t know much of their stuff. Even though I wasn’t familiar with them, they were still pretty good. Their stage presence and energy wasn’t as good as the headliners, but was still pretty good. The crowd wasn’t really into them as much as they were with the Casualties of course, but they were moshing and enjoying the bands.
The show’s energy didn’t really pick up until Lower Class Brats came on. Being the first time seeing them, I thought they were really good. Their energy was great and I wasn’t disappointed at all from the anticipation I’d built up. About halfway into the set, they broke into “Psycho.” With the first vocal escaping from the lead singers’ mouth, the crowd went wild! Bodies were slamming every which way, in an uproar of adrenaline oozing into every body in the crowd. This was by far their best song of their set, both performance and crowd-wise.
Then the Casualties took the stage, and more insane vibes came from the crowd as well as the band. Their performance was exceptional. I would say it was better than when I saw them back in March of this year. The band got energy and exhilaration from the crowd, and the crowd got energy and exhilaration from the band. Bodies were flying all over the place, and throughout their set, fans dove offstage in a tremendous manner. “Punx United” was definitely a crowd favorite. Everyone came together and felt like one with one another. The band was an entire success on this night both musically and crowd-wise. These awesome performers made the night fun for everyone.
I would highly suggest seeing the Casualties and Lower Class Brats live and any other band on this tour, if you already haven’t. You’ll definitely have fun and love them if you like any of these bands: Misfits, GBH, Dead Kennedy’s, The Unseen, The Exploited, etc.
