One Trick Arsenal/More North/2 Left Feet/Hit the Lights/December Calls

Oak Lawn Ice Arena
September 3, 2004
Well, I went to this show in a bad mood and came out in an extremely good mood. That shows you what 2 Left Feet,
Hit the Lights, More North, and One Trick Arsenal can do to you.
So I walk into the multi-purpose room to find out that December Calls has already started playing. They were your typical screamo band so I didn't really care. They weren't that exciting. I didn't really find anything unique about them.
Now the next band that played was pretty good. They are called Hit the Lights and they are from Ohio. Their guitarists have some pretty interesting hair. Their singer was pretty cool and he'd go right in front of people and be singing to them. They had a really good stage presence. I made sure to buy a CD.
2 Left Feet went on after this. They did an amazing set. They played one of my favorite songs from them, which is "9:55." The song makes an imprint in your brain, and it's also easy to remember what song it is because of the consant singing (and screaming) of "If I die tonight." Their bassist, Dillion, accidently hit some kid in the head with his bass guitar during the show. I absolutely love their guitarist's (Ash) energy. He goes crazy as hell. He has one of the
most energetic people on stage. It's impossible to get bored during 2 Left Feet's set because if their music doesn't hook you in, then Ash's energy will.
Then this band More North (who resently just broke up) played. They were pretty awesome. They were pretty energetic. Their lead singer also has awesome hair. Ya, they've grown a pretty good fan base. At one point the lead singer started singing "Tipsy" as a joke during one of their songs.
After More North, my favorite band went on, which is, of course, One Trick Arsenal. They started off playing "Adding Insult To Injury." I was pretty excited about that because this was the first time I saw them play it live and I actually knew the song. Practically, 85% of the crowd was moshing. Shockingly, no one that was working the show was stopping them even though they usually do, since it's against the rules to mosh there. After a few newer songs, One Trick Arsenal played "Black Skies And Dark Stars." Then a few more songs. At one point the moshers ran into Craig's mic, knocking it off the stand. Then One Trick Arsenal played their usual last song, "My Favorite Wound." I expected a bit more moshing, but I guess everyone was a bit moshed out.
That was basically my night out. I got to see two bands I had never seen before that rocked and got to see two other bands who were just as awesome that I have seen a bunch of times before. It was definitely an energetic night.
