Bad Religion, Good God!

March 20, 2002 . The Rave . Milwaukee, WI

Bad Religion, the founding fathers of new wave punk, absolutely rocked the place following a sub par Less Than Bad Religion LiveJake performance. All the teeny bopping LTJ fans retreated for shelter as they were rudely awakened by the punk rock world. Bad Religion have grown better and better over the years. Not just anyone has more than 22 years of punk rock experience. This was one of the greatest shows I have ever attended. However, they were playing in the Eagles Ballroom and the sound quality was pathetic, and you couldn’t hear a God damned lyric that Greg Graffin was singing. Also their guitarist, and head of Epitaph Records, Brett Gurewitz, didn’t take the stage because he was a little under the weather. But despite all that the show was incredible. The pit was sick, the music was great, and the old punk rockers are still alive and kickin’(In the Milwaukee area anyway).

Bad Religion usually take a "shut up and play" attitude at their shows, but they stopped playing here and there and commented on how bad ass the crowd was and checked on how we were doing. Greg also asked if it was still cool to go to Summerfest, since he grew up in the Milwaukee area. Summerfest is the greatest eleven day showcase of rock and/or roll in the most kick ass city in America. Anywho, they played a great show and to top it all off they played a three song encore and finished the show with “21st Century Digital Boy.” This was a great ending to an interesting evening. I strongly suggest you go see a Bad Religion show if you get the chance; you’re totally missing out if you don’t. Rock on Ya’all!!!
