Contraband
Velvet Revolver with Contraband
RCA
 Release Date: June 8, 2004

Overdoses, rehab, and egos. Yeah... yeah.. yeah.. before you go off yelling about the Velvet Revolver's past you need Velvet Revolverto realize that this band is the epitome of the word "rock."  Duff McKagen, Slash, Matt Sorum, Dave Kushner, and Scott Weiland come together in what seems to have crash and burn all over it.  But that is exactly what this band is doing.  It is tearing up the airwaves with "Slither," the first single off Velvet Revolver's debut album Velvet Revolver LiveContraband, on RCA.  Of course you are going to hear Guns N' Roses, and of course you might be reminded of Stone Temple Pilots, but while echoes of the past are audible, these guys are molding the future of Rock and Roll.

In its first week, Contraband has sold over 256,000 records in the U.S. alone, taking them straight to number one on Billboard's charts.  Many can say they owe it all to Weiland, Slash, and Duff; but put the album in, push play and be proven wrong.  From start to finish this album takes you on a blazing rock rollercoaster that you will ride over and over again.  Shrieking guitar shreds through the speakers as Weiland's perfectly posed choruses have you tearin' down the highway with your windows down, screaming at the sun.  As I said before, put the album in, push play and hold on.

Notable tracks: "Sucker Train Blues," "Set Me Free," "Fall to Pieces," "Slither"

XROXX RATING: XXXXX (5 X's out of 5 X's)
