STORY OF THE YEAR
PAGE AVENUE

Maverick Records
Release Date: September 16, 2003
After having only heard their first single "Until the Day I Die," I must confess that I was a tad bit skeptical about their debut album Page Avenue. Before even listening to this record, I had just written these guys off as another cheap knockoff of The Used. In reality, they are well above and beyond that. Boys and girls, we should never judge a book by its cover or an album by its single. If you’re thinking Story of the Year is just another flavor of the week, then think again!
Upon my first listen, I was immediately blown away by the explosive first track "And the Hero Will Drown". My jaw
literally dropped to the floor in awe of the versatility of lead vocalist, Dan Marsala. It’s an absolute shock that this guy is screaming his ass off one minute and singing in perfect key the next. Track 4, "In the Shadows" highlights Marsala at his finest. This record also includes powerful guitar riffs by Ryan Phillips and Philip Sneed, thick bass lines by Adam Russell, and of course some very tight drum licks by Josh Wills. Not to mention guest vocals from John Feldmann of Goldfinger and Toby Morse of H2O (see track 12 "Falling Down").
It has something for damn near everyone and is an absolute must listen. So be sure and throw it on when you go on that hot date or even at the next family gathering. I highly recommend you give each and every track a listen because this entire record kicks ass no matter how you slice it.
XROXX RATING: XXXXX "PERFECT SCORE!!!"
