Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
Split Habit - Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
Double Zero Records
Rlease Date:  February 24, 2004

Sick of the poser rock bands claiming to be punk or whatever is cool that week?  Well, rest easy there is a remedy.  The Chicago-based trio, Split Habit, have landed with a real and honest approach toward hook filled and pop-fueled rock and roll.

Split HabitPut Your Money Where Your Mouth Is was produced by Sean O’ Keefe (Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack) and released on Double Zero Records.  It’s energetic, bubbly, happy and full of addictive additives.

Almost every track on Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is could become a chart-topping single.  The songs are catchy, melodic and easy on the ears.  Vocalist and bass player, Travis Brown, doesn’t hold back as he belts out songs about girls, relationships and touring, but what’s nice is his voice isn’t piercing, nor is it annoying and whiny.  Brown’s voice is consistent and strong throughout every track.

Songs like “City Girl” and “ The Lies Within” open up lightly and gently before exploding into lively, pogo-worthy rock songs.  Split Habit’s use of starts and stops and melodic pauses is nothing less than exquisite.  Songs like “Lady Killer,” “Days Ahead But Weeks Behind” and “Ms. Vandersanden” flourish with light and easy vocals layered onto driving rock rhythms that make you want to dance.  Split Habit

Split Habit’s influences range from the Smoking Popes to Green Day and these qualities shine through in everything from the seriousness of their music to their energy driven and interactive live show.  Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is also includes an awesome cover of Hall and Oates’ “Maneater,” as well as some fun hidden material.

Split Habit aren’t just some manufactured pop-punk band, they're just three guys with a passion for sincere music with a hope that listeners can relate to what they’re saying.  Throw away the Simple Plan and Good Charlotte CD's because Split Habit are the real deal.
