Muse
Absolution

Warner Brothers
Release Date: March 23, 2004
From across the pond comes one of the best albums of the year. UK's Muse comes out with their first album on Warner
Brothers entitled Absolution. Needless to say one can't listen to this album without hearing overtones of Radiohead, but right from the first track, "Apocalypse Please," you forget all about that.
Absolution is an album that will be impossible to top this year. Within every song you feel the angst, envy, struggle, and resolution. Opera would be a better genre to put this band
into. Their use of the piano plays a key role, as it constantly changes the scenery of the album. On one track it may be typical grand piano sounds, while on others it comes across as spacey and eclectic.
Singer Mike Bellamy's voice breathes life and emotion throughout this record. His falsetto voice, paired up with crunching guitar sounds and near battle-sounding drums inspires you to throw out your CD collection and start new. The music is that of an orchestral composition that carries you from the beginning of earth and then throws you to the end of everything that breathes. By the end of this album you ask yourself..."Radio-who?"
