Finch with What It Is To Burn

Drive-Thru Records
Release Date: March 12, 2002

Finch is a force to be reckoned with in all aspects of being a band.  They have one of the most dynamic, emotional live shows I have ever seen which drawn from the deepness and intense feeling of their lastest album.  Many discs are lacking in comparison to the Drive Thru Records release of What It Is To Burn

FinchFinch successfully broke through and broke out of the sub-par pop-punk mold that we have come to expect from Drive Thru.  Pushing two years on the street, their album has never gotten old.  Every time I spin it, I find a new track that I forgot that I loved.  "Ender" is a romantic tale of love.  Every time I listen to it, I feel like Nate is singing right to me, that is how personal his voice and lyrics are.  I am also a fan of the title track.  I like the comparison of a life gone off track to a star falling from grace.  I think that is a rad ass comparison and I think you will too.  "Letter To You" is touching and "Perfection Through Silence" will leave you yearning for more.

I will always love this disc, but I am also looking forward to the new release next year to see what they have been up to in the last year.  It will be interesting if they will evolve and take their music to the next level with even more feeling and emotion, or if they will fall back into the duldrums of sub-par pop-punk with the rest of their label mates.  Only time will tell...

XROXX rating: XXX (3 out of a possible 5 X's)
