Fall Out Boy
My Heart Will Always be the B-side to my Tongue

Fueled By Ramen Records
Release Date: May 18, 2004
Fueled by Ramen’s latest sensation, Fall Out Boy, has recently dropped their acoustic EP. The disc is loaded with the
trademark vocals of front man Patrick Strump, and Fall Out Boy’s classic heartbreaking lyrics. Even more exciting is the DVD that comes with it.
The DVD sports some live footage from venues such as Chicago’s Fireside Bowl and The Bottom Lounge, as well as footage from New Jersey’s Skate and Surf Festival (Paramount Stage). The DVD also shows interviews, home videos, and FOB playing a
show in a record store with no barricade and two extremely underpaid security guards.
The CD has five songs on it, four of which are previously unreleased, and all have never been released acoustically. The album starts off with a song that gets you set for the next four songs, entitled “My Heart is the Worst Kind of Weapon.” It tells a story of past mistakes and keeping secrets. The rest of the EP follows the same kind of tone, with upbeat tempos and genuine lyrics. One song I didn’t like was track four, titled “Love Will Tear Us Apart.” (ed. note: This song is a cover of a Joy Division song and not a Fall Out Boy original.) I didn’t like it because of the annoying chorus; it was repetitious and just all around bad. My favorite song on the album would have to be the last track titled “Grand Theft Autumn/ Where Is Your Boy,” which is a hit from their
previous release Take This To Your Grave.
The EP is all around very well put together, however this is definitely the B-side to the Chicago power-punk-pop band that is Fall Out Boy. My Heart Will Always be the B-side to My Tongue (that is a really long title) is overflowed with the genesis that is Fall Out Boy, and is an excellent addition to your rotation. In all honesty, their first release came out a year ago and this is a weak follow-up for such a powerful album, but is still a good acoustic EP. Do not forget about the DVD, it's got a ton of great footage.
