Saddle Creek Unlike the title, there is NOTHING ugly about this one! Well OK, that picture on the album... I don't know about that, but the rest of it is killer! The cello is simply beautiful and gives the music an edge which rivals some of the best. Some call it emo, some call it indie, who cares what it is... it is amazing! Some Red Handed Slight of Hand, Art is Hard, The Recluse.... simply brilliant! This music leads you to believe that you know right where its going then "WHAM!," it takes a turn for the better! From the first track on the album to the very last note, this album is all so very impressive. Each song works so well on its on, but also works cohesively to fit together as a complete album. Now tell me how many bands have the ability to do that these days?! Exactly. Either way ya look at it, this album is great! It will be interesting to see if Cursive can pull of such an impressive sound while on tour. The acoustics on the CD were solid, but how will it come out on stage? Also, one has to ask themself, where can Cursive go from here? They've already put out an intelligent, hard working album - could they possibly take their original sound even farther? Eh, we can worry about that next year. For now, I'm content with what we've got right here. Now Go Check it out!
