Release Date:  September 23, 2003

bnoWhen you listen to Boys Night Out's Make Yourself Sick, you'll notice that it has a nice combination of pop-punk, emo, and hardcore in it.  Their songs are very catchy at points, then very hardcore at points, and it's all layered with amazing lyrics and great vocals.

"I Got Punched In the Nose For Sticking My Face In Other People's Business" is one of their more popular songs off the record.  If you're a fan of the movie, The Wedding Singer, one of the first things you'll notice about the song is that the title is actually a quote off the movie.  The song starts off very catchy then goes into hardcore sound and "So I'm going to tear down the sky and all the dull stars tonight so I can stay hidden and live in the black."  Then goesbno back to being catchy.  Then comes in this really catchy part that will have you singing (and clapping) all day long.

Following up after that song is "(Just Once) Let's Do Something Different."  It's a mix of emo and hardcore.  It has lyrics like "And, brother, you better bring a baseball bat, or better, because broken bones and black eyes are a safe bet" and "I'm sorry, but I need saving and this horror Biys Night Out Promo Shotis the perfect ending."

"I Was The Devil For One Afternoon" is a song that mainly consists of pop-punk with hardcore screaming added every once and a while.  It has a catchy chorus and random hardcore parts in the verses.  It starts getting a bit depressing at the end though because of the lyrics:  "I started panicking until your heartbeat Boys Night Out Promo Shotstopped...until your body dropped/That will always be my favorite memory of you and me/And I'd give anything to know the reasons behind the wreckage/I ruined everything for you."

The album artwork is actually quite interesting.  It has a bunch of pictures of a boy with his head in water that has ice in it.  It actually looks pretty cool because of the how the ice cubes look in the picture.

"Hold On Tightly, Let Go Lightly" is one of their more emo sounding songs.  It's slower paced than the rest of the songs.  Even at parts that has screaming (that kinda sounds far off) it still stays calm and slow.  It's kind of a nice change from the rest of the songs.

Make Yourself Sick is definitely a catchy album that you definitely will like.  The lyrics alone are amazing and brillant.  It's definitely a well put together album.

XROXX ALBUM RATING:  XXXX (4 X's out of a possible 5 X's)
