Blindside
Silence
Blindside with Silence
Elektra Records
Release Date:  August 20, 2002

I walked into this record store in Los Angeles called Amoeba Music.  I made my way through the massive crowds of Blindside Livepeople that usually gather there everyday and looked through the “B” section of CD’s.  Somehow I came across Blindside and figured, “What the hell?  Why not?”  I paid for my CD and once I stepped out of the store, I opened up the case and stuck it in my CD player.  I immediately thought to myself, “Why hadn’t I heard this before?”  It was one of the best things I had heard in a long time.  This band, much like many other great bands, has passion in their sound and lyrics.

Christian (vocals), Simon (guitars), Tomas (bass) and Marcus (drums) are filled with thatBlindside on Media Day fire that burns inside someone when they love what they do.  Silence has surpassed my wildest expectations.  I could say that about only a few albums out there and this, in fact, is one of them.  If you’re into bands like P.O.D. and Deftones, you will definitely love Blindside.

Many songs on this record are very heavy and melodic.  They tend to remind me of how you can be angry and emotional one minute and be laid back and relaxed the next.  Blindside LiveTheir song “Pitiful” is an example of how immense their sound can be.  I bought this record not really knowing what to expect and I can honestly say that I am extremely delighted that I bought it.

Silence is one of the best records that I’ve bought.  I will always listen to it and think to myself, “Wow, how could I have missed this band before this record?”  The intensity it makes you feel with every guitar riff and every heartfelt scream only makes them greater than most other metal bands out there.  So listen to it, love it and then listen to it again.
