XROXX BAND OF THE MONTH
APRIL 2004

I've known Out Of Line since they played their first show I believe. I was fortunate enough to be able to book them in my venue for a night of great skankin'! Since then, they have moved on to play bigger and, arguably, better venues (sorry, some of my ego shining through there). They always seem to return to my venue twice a year. It's always a pleasure to have them too. They put on a great show and draw more and more people. They're always asking me if
there's anything going on around campus that they could tie into. Other bands hear that it's Parent's Weekend or Little Sibs Weekend and they shy away, often turning down a date as opposed to taking on a challenge. Out Of Line not only takes on those challenges, they ask me for them! It's one of many things that impress me about this eight-piece ska band.
The first time I ever heard these guys, I couldn't get the thought of early No Doubt out of my head, down to the hot blonde lead singer. The thing is, I believe Suzie is actually a better singer than Gwen Stefani. Her vocal range is amazing from low and raspy to sultry to high and ear piercing, Suzie can hit them all. Add Geoff, the bass player into the mix, and you've got more talent in two people in the band than almost any band on the national scene. I also hear that the ladies go wild over Geoff, at least that's what a co-worker said to me. Hey, lets be honest, what's rock, punk, ska or
emo without sex appeal, right?
There's been a buzz around Out Of Line for some time now and it appears that people in Chicago are starting to take notice as well as other places throughout the country. While the band hasn't put on a major tour of any proportions yet, I'm sure that isn't a far way off. The band has had the opportunity to play legs on the Ska Bands Unite Tour and an upcoming supporting slot on the Ska Is Dead Tour. They have shared the stage with acts
like Big D and the Kid's Table, The Toasters and The Skatalites. They will share the stage with Mustard Plug, Catch 22 and The Planet Smashers later this month at Skappleton,a yearly ska festival at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Things are coming together for this spunky ska band based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and their popularity should only continue to grow. Hopefully it won't be long before you can see them in you neck of the woods. Their shows are upbeat, fun and just an overall great time. No one ever walks out of an Out Of Line show without a smile on their face. The one thing the band could work on, however, is their website. While they regularly update it with news items, the website tells you nothing about the band, making it somewhat difficult for me to relay to you how great they are.
