Third follows the basic punk formula; bass, guitar, drums and vocals singing relatively simple songs. However, Third executes this formula with such expertise and energy that the formula is exceptionally effective. The guitar work is sparkling and catchy, not just bar chords-leads-more bar chords, but actual structured parts that draw you in and counter the almost over the top complexity of the bass lines. You hear all of this over the dynamic, yet always energetic drums. The highlight of the band though, is the tight vocal harmonies. Third could probably do a set completely acappella and still produce just as much energy without the instruments. Each of them passes around the role of lead singer depending on the song. A highlight when they play live in that, no one member is the focal point, rather, the band is as a whole. There songs are catchy and the lyrics witty. Check them out if you get the chance.
