The origins of the band Terrible Fake extend back to the members high school days. Under the name Momentum, current members Jason and Karl, along with two school mates, formed a band who rocked out their intoxicated, underage peers at various parties and band nights with a melodic punk rock style inspired by the surf/skate/snow scene.
After school, the drummer Lee, renowned for his fetish for women's underwear and unusually large man-breasts, left Sydney for University. The band continued with a new drummer playing gigs at various venues such as Caringbah Bizzo's, the Bat and Ball hotel, the Iron Duke and the Forest Inn, supporting bands such as Seraph’s Coal, Hard Ons, Blow Hard, Dropweight and many more, while continuing to ignite mosh pits at messy social occasions with their fast paced, catchy, melodic tunes. Crowds also enjoyed their zany on-stage antics, where no topic was too dirty or irrelevant to delve into between songs. A belt did not necessarily mean pants were to stay up, and the alcohol consumed by the band during their set was at a pace dictated by the frequency of their mates in the audience handing them a beer.
When another member left for work commitments with a classy, up-market magazine called "fat sluts" the band went through a quiet, uncertain phase, although Jase and Karl were still writing songs together and discussing the pros and cons of reading porn while taking a dump.
In 2003 they formed a new band with hunky drummer Zag called Terrible Fake. Then finally completed the line-up with good mate Brooksie on bass, leaving Jase to just concentrate on vocals. They are back with a bigger sound, but still with the same punk rock style they love. The guys have been working hard jamming and writing new songs in preparedness for future gigs.
