The Morning After combines steady beats, funky bass lines, and anthem-like choruses to create their own brand of melodic pop-punk, which ventures beyond the bounds of the stereotypically minimalist style found often in this genre.  This Seattle-based four piece has carved out a reputation for themselves while earning the respect of their fans for their explosive live show.  Sing-along melodies mixed with tight guitar rhythms guarantee to leave even the most modest spectator begging for more.

The Morning After sprang into existence in the summer of 2001, with singer/guitarist Jody Reyes meeting bassist Andrew Towl through mutual friends.  From the beginning, they shared the dream to give a humorous and progressive edge to a burgeoning pop-punk sound.  The acquisition of local drummer Eric Brillhart added years of drumming experience to the ever-developing TMA sound.  As time progressed and creative ideas were explored, the three piece decided it would benefit from the added complexity of an additional guitar.  A long time friend of Jody’s, Jon Eggenberger, was brought on to fill out the lineup.  Jon’s classically trained guitar added the ability to expand on the intricacies of the guitar melodies.  The current lineup was born, and with Jon’s vocal ability, three part harmonies became a staple of the TMA sound.

Over the past two years, The Morning After has become no stranger to the studio.  They have capitalized on the opportunities studio time has presented them, to record a number of EP’s.  Their latest 4-song EP, entitled Missing: 3 Beats is a collection of soaring solos, catchy vocal lines and tight turnarounds.  It has been gaining airtime on local radio stations and raving reviews.  Previous releases include Instant Nostalgia in February 2003, a five-song EP with local label Mad Cow Recordings. The Morning After’s first release, in the spring of 2002, was entitled Close Enough for Punk Rock and was their first venture into the studio.

Currently, The Morning After is playing a number of shows in the Seattle area, with occasional trips to outlying cities.  Plans for a full studio release are in the works, with recording beginning in the early summer 2004.  Radio appearances, benefit shows and support of The Scene are all active items on The Morning After’s roster.  As their fan base grows and resume thickens, be sure to keep an eye on TMA, Seattle’s rising star.
