In June of 2003, Rosaylen Sibaja approached Kristina Roberson about starting a band, Kind Adversary. She agreed, but it was then decided to wait until the rest of the band was brought in. After all their searching was bearing no fruit, they decided to pursue the idea as an acoustic duet.
They both soon realized that there was strong musical chemistry, which wasn't too surprising, considering that they had been best friends for a little over two years at the time.
Soon, they began to have longer and more frequent practices, with that came more accomplishment. Kristina had always wrtitten poetry, lyrical poetry being one of the more explored realms. Rosaylen had been playing guitar for about a year and a half up to then and was always writing different instrumentals. So at practices, they would both bring their individual works to the table and put things together, then polish the raw product. This process brought about "Love Lost" and "Moment I Saw You," but soon all their progress was slowed down dramatically.
In late September 2003, Kristina found out that her family was moving to Summerville, SC. After dealing with the emotional blow this news struck for a brief moment, they addressed the musical road block this would create. They knew that they would see each other as much as possible just because they were/are so close...So why not play music then? They both agreed that they could each join other bands individually without forgetting about Kind Adversary and moved forward.
In November of that same year, Kristina moved in with Rosaylen until the end of the semester instead of leaving with her family. During that time Kind Adversary performed on open mic night at a local coffee house for three weeks. Then on December 19, 2003, Kristina Roberson left to join her family in South Carolina.
Despite the distance, Kind Adversary is advancing and improving, even if their progress and potential is being muted because of the change of area codes.
You can look forward to more music, merchandise and performances from Kind Adversary in the not-so-distant future.
