The group saw the light in summer 2000 out of boredom by ex-members of hardcore punk band Unhinged. The idea was to start something completely new that you could dance too, melting garagey punk with dancey funky elements. First concerts sounded more like Birthday Partyian dark-noise rock than anything else. As the line-up got steady the sound got tighter more angular yet dancable. While their live appearances remain rather scarce, some concerts turn into more like conceptual performances with the band all wrapped up in plastic films with electric lights stuck on their bodies, or more often all dressed-up alike. TWO-STAR HOTEL produce what they call "plastic-rock," no one knew if it is referring to their post-punk sound or the famous Bbelgian pop-punk singer Plastic Bertrand (real name Roger Jouret). Although they have often been compared to the likes of Devo, The Hives, Talking Heads or Belgians TC Matic, they don't really (need to) fit into any particular category. Their two recording sessions (unreleased so far) caught the attention of the indie garage rock alternative label Sounds Of Subterrania who is going to release their full lengh debut LP/CD due out for 2005.
